My name is Hillary Ameworwor from Ghana and a Master’s student of Higher School of Economics Studying Human rights & Democratic Governance. I joined the Russian Red Cross (RRC) as a volunteer two years ago because I wanted to contribute the little I can to humanity. I also joined because I wanted develop myself professionally in the Humanitarian field, since it is my aspiration to build a successful career in this field.
I would say that joining the RRC as volunteer has impacted positively on my life in a number of ways. Firstly, volunteering has taught me to appreciate life as an individual and that helping the needy in society rests on us who have the opportunity. The little help you give will put a smile on the faces of the needy! Secondly, I have also gained a tremendous experience in the humanitarian field thanks to the RRC who took delight in constantly training its volunteers. Last but not the least, the RRC has always been a shoulder to lean on for me as a foreign student in Russia. I have also made friends who I can boldly call my family.
I want to specially thank the whole RRC team for providing me these memorable experiences and looking forward to seeing what life can offer in my next chapter as I have just completed my master’s programme!
