I see volunteering as a two-way journey. It has given me the opportunity to provide my services and skills to help others live a better life and at the same time, it has helped make me a better person who is humbler and more compassionate towards one.
For me, volunteering has become my identity as before joining the Russian Red Cross as a volunteer, I had been volunteering for over fourteen years with the Pakistan Red Crescent in a number of worthwhile causes.
Therefore, as I moved to Moscow to pursue my master’s studies, it was only second nature for me to register myself as a volunteer and become a part of the meaningful RRC initiatives. Volunteering here has given me numerous opportunities to engage with the wider community, develop deep friendships with other like-minded individuals and to be of help to those in need.
